Caroline Pennington de Rodríguez Sánchez is a Senior Associate at Floyd Zadkovich, predominantly acting for and advising commodities trading houses, shipowners and charterers, on contentious (international arbitrations, trade arbitrations (GAFTA and FOSFA) and English Court proceedings) and non-contentious (contract drafting and advisory) matters. Caroline is highly experienced in dealing with all matters concerning the international trade and transportation of the three main commodities classes; oil and gas, softs and metals.

Caroline has a particularly in-depth understanding of the soft commodities sector and is frequently engaged to act for clients involved in GAFTA and FOSFA arbitrations, as well as to draft and advise on sale and purchase agreements, related trade and finance documentation and charterparties.  

Before joining Floyd Zadkovich, Caroline spent nine years at a highly reputable shipping firm in the City, seven of which were spent practicing in that firm’s top-tier commodities team advising and acting for oil majors, soft commodities houses banks and major trading houses.  Whilst there she also undertook a long-term secondment at one of the world’s largest soft commodities trading houses where she was, in addition to providing day to day advisory services to the business, responsible for handling a large number of ICA claims concerning damaged/shortage of cargo, managing LCIA arbitrations, and drafting bespoke agreements relating to supply, handling, transportation, and storage of soft commodities as well as for the construction of a refinery in East Africa.
