Calum Cheyne

Before joining Floyd Zadkovich as a mid-level Associate, Calum Cheyne trained and worked for four years at a major international law firm in their international shipping and trading team.  Calum has worked on numerous bill of lading, charterparty and other shipping contract cases, particularly in the dry-bulk market, including issues relating to laytime, demurrage, off-hire, speed and performance, damage to vessel and unsafe port claims. Many of these cases have involved US law including US arbitration proceedings, Rule B attachments and security court actions in Texas, Louisiana and New York.  Calum has also worked on major vessel casualties and ‘wet’ shipping cases.  His non-contentious experience includes drafting charterparties, vessel sale and purchase agreements and other maritime contracts.  He also has experience litigating ISDA Master Agreements, particularly in the commodities sector.  Calum was seconded to a leading oil and gas company during his prior role, and spent time working in that firm’s Seoul office.  Calum studied at Durham University for his undergraduate degree before completing the Legal Practice Course with a distinction.
